What you’re investing in

Forests at a critical juncture

Austria's forests are reaching a tipping point. As one of our most essential carbon sinks, they require active and sustainable management to continue absorbing CO₂ and maintaining their vital role in climate regulation. Your investment are earmarked and directly support targeted carbon sequestration efforts that ensure these forests remain effective in capturing and storing carbon for years to come.
Alpenbockkäfer

Biodiversity

Forests provide valuable habitats for various species of animals, plants, insects and microorganisms. As a functioning ecosystem, the forest needs biodiversity to remain stable. An endangered forest threatens the biodiversity that our planet will continue to need in the future. Investments in forest climate protection projects are therefore also investments that promote biodiversity.
Climate Change

Climate Change Resilience

Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent as a result of climate change, causing immense damage to forests. Monocultures with shallow roots in particular are more frequently exposed to large-scale damage. The forest of the future needs mixed stands and climate-adapted tree species, and measures and investments are needed to establish these.
Regional Community

Regional Co-Benefits

Natural ecosystem processes such as the nutrient cycle, the water balance and soil fertility are preserved. Regions and local communities will benefit from them. Additionally, our regional projects allow for a direct relationship with the foresters for employee engagement opportunities to bring your sustainability strategy alive with an educational forest visit.

Forests with unique features

Discover the projects within the portfolio

Each of our projects is unique, but they all share a common mission: unlocking the full potential of Austria’s forests for climate protection. Our diverse portfolio spans multiple regions and showcases a range of innovative approaches to forest management, ensuring that every project contributes to a healthier climate and a more sustainable future. With the Austria Forest Portfolio you contribute equally to each of these projects.
image stand montafon
Voralberg: Stand Montafon
Vorarlberg: Stand Montafon

Most of its forest areas are located in mountainous terrain, over 1,200 m above sea level. This makes management more difficult and at the same time results in an increased protective function. With more than 90 % protective forest, the Stand Montafon contributes significantly to the habitability of the Montafon.

Tyrol: Kappa Private Foundation

In the past, the area was intensively forested. Today, the forest consists of productive coniferous forests, mainly spruce and fir, which extend over an altitude of 850 to 1840 metres above sea level. More than half of the productive forest area is managed as protection forest, which emphasises the importance of sustainable forest management and the protection of natural resources.

The forest of the municipality of Pettneu is characterized by a high proportion of protective forest, safeguarding the important S16 highway and the Arlberg railway line from avalanches, rockfall, erosion, and other natural hazards.

image Forestry office Gstatt
Steiermark: Forestry office Gstatt
Styria: Forestry office Gstatt

What makes this forest area unique is its location in the high mountains, which presents a special challenge for management. The parcels extend in altitudes ranging from about 1,000 meters to approximately 2,700 meters above sea level. About 25 % of the total area is utilized for economic purposes, including productive protective forests
