The Gstatt forestry office faces challenging situations due to natural events. Storms, droughts, heavy rainfall and soil erosion threaten the forest. The office is therefore increasingly focussing on prevention, early warning and resilient trees.

The case is that forestry often cannot cover its costs, especially in these extreme locations, which we have to manage. We still expect the forest to perform multifunctional services. By intensifying sustainable and near-natural management of the forests, many of which are overaged, the protected forest areas in particular are being restored and stabilised for future generations.

Impact Stories

Why is investing in our forests so important? The forest ecosystem is one of the largest CO₂ reservoirs on our planet. This CO₂ reservoir is coming under increasing pressure and suffering the consequences of climate change. Research by the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna shows that 1 euro invested in a forest has the same "protective quality" as 150 euros invested in technical solutions.

"By supporting a forest climate project, we're shaping a greener future. As CEO of Tiroler Rohre GmbH, I'm proud of this initiative, which not only offsets CO₂ but also protects biodiversity and strengthens communities. This collaboration shows companies can meet responsibilities and foster long-term positive change through sustainability."

"It can often be a challenge to work your way through the multitude of climate protection projects and make decisions when someone wants to make a financial contribution. To relieve our guests of this task, we have checked the project for credibility and transparency. We hope that our guests will trust and support us."

Measured Impact

We know greenwashing is a hot topic in the voluntary carbon market: As a business owner you want to know the concrete impact measurement in your investment. Each of our projects turns words into actions - let's take a look at an example: Ladis Municipal Forest in Tyrol
  • The project offsets approximately 1,183 tonnes of CO₂ per year – equivalent to the annual emissions of around 590 cars.

  • Around 2,600 coniferous trees and 2,400 deciduous trees are planned for reforestation in 2025. All tree species except spruce are being trialled in order to be as broadly positioned as possible for the future.

  • Resources with additional benefits: Active forest restructuring creates resilient, species-rich mixed forests and promotes biodiversity. With those measures regional water-, soil- and air-quality are promoted.

  • Protection function saved: 70% of it is protective forest, safeguarding the community and harboring healing springs that have been used since 1212.
