Climate protection starts right on our doorstep - with this conviction, the Vorarlberg McDonald's restaurants under the management of franchisee Loek Versluis have decided to support the sustainable forest protection projects of Tree.ly. Together, we are committed to the climate-friendly management of local forests and are thus making a valuable contribution to CO₂ sequestration, biodiversity and sustainability in Vorarlberg.
McDonald's is committed to sustainable forest management in Vorarlberg
Through the cooperation with Tree.ly, forests in Bludenz, Montafon, Klostertal and Jagdberg are managed sustainably. The aim is to promote climate-resilient forestry. This includes measures such as conversion to mixed forests, reforestation with resilient tree species and sustainable harvesting methods.
This cooperation helps to ensure that CO₂ is stored in the supported forest areas. In this way, McDonald's restaurants in Vorarlberg are making a valuable contribution to climate protection and supporting the long-term storage of carbon in regional forests.
Strong partners for the region
Loek Versluis, Managing Director of five McDonald's restaurants in Vorarlberg with a total of 345 employees, emphasises the importance of the collaboration:
"As a family business, we bear responsibility - not only for our employees and guests, but also for our environment. Our forests offer recreation, protection and shade and are also an essential CO₂ reservoir. By cooperating with Tree.ly, we can actively contribute to climate protection here in *Vorarlberg."
Does measurable impact also make sense for your company?
As a climate tech start-up, Tree.ly offers companies the opportunity to actively participate in forest protection projects via verified carbon credits. Christian Lutz, co-founder of Tree.ly, explains:
"We work with forest owners*:in Austria to manage their land more sustainably and generate additional income through our projects. The fact that McDonald's Vorarlberg is now also supporting our mission shows that climate protection projects can have a big impact at regional level."
Working together for greater sustainability and climate protection
The cooperation between McDonald's Vorarlberg and Tree.ly shows how companies can take responsibility and actively contribute to climate protection in Austria. The protection and sustainable management of regional forests not only binds CO₂, but also promotes biodiversity and strengthens the local community. A role model for sustainability in practice - right on our doorstep.
