Tree.ly is not involved in the dispute between the Deutscher Alpenverein (DAV) Section Bamberg and Kappa Privatstiftung regarding the termination of the material cable car contract supplying the Neue Bamberger Hütte. Tree.ly’s collaboration with Kappa Privatstiftung is strictly focused on sustainable forest management and climate protection projects, with no operational, financial, or legal connection to the Neue Bamberger Hütte or its activities.
What is the dispute between DAV and Kappa Privatstiftung about? The dispute concerns the termination of a long-standing contract for the material cable car that supplied the Neue Bamberger Hütte. The Kappa Privatstiftung, which owns the land, terminated the contract. The DAV (Section Bamberg) is seeking alternative solutions, including the possibility of using a road, but this involves significant environmental impacts and costs.
What is Tree.ly’s stance in relation to the dispute? Tree.ly is by no means involved in the dispute between DAV and the Kappa Privatstiftung. We are focused solely on creating measurable and sustainable climate impact through climate protection projects through sustainable forest management carbon projects. Our efforts are separate from the operational, financial and legal concerns surrounding the Neue Bamberger Hütte.
What is Tree.ly’s relationship to Kappa Privatstiftung? Tree.ly collaborates with various landowners, including Kappa Privatstiftung, to support sustainable forest management practices through our climate protection projects with the aim to transform to climate-change resilient forests. As a result, Tree.ly's involvement is solely related to environmental projects aimed at climate action, and not to the specific operational or contractual issues regarding the Neue Bamberger Hütte.
How does the Kappa´s climate protection project relate to Neue Bamberger Hütte? It does not. As with all Tree.ly forest climate protection projects a detailed calculation of existing biomass in the forest is the starting point (inventory, laser scans, sample measurements). From here a 30 year project is calculated following established scientific standards projecting the additionality of CO2-storage and CO2-conservation. The calculations are externally verified by TÜV, then the reality in the forest is checked by TÜV-audits (visiting) and after annual monitoring TÜV issues yearly ex-post credits (for the previous year), which then get offered to enterprises, who want to contribute to such projects on their own path to CO2-net-zero. All funds have to be mandatory re-invested into the agreed climate protection measures, which is checked annually. This process shows that all focus is with the actual forest, and there is absolutely no relation to Neue Bamberger Hütte. This can be easily verified in the TÜV certified PDD (Project Definition Document), where there is no reference or relation to that DAV hut.
What does Tree.ly do? Tree.ly develops forest climate protection projects in Austria and Europe - Our goal is to unlock the full potential of local forests and actively utilise them for climate protection. Tree.ly brings companies together with forest owners and enables corporate investments in the forest through high-quality, TÜV-certified CO₂ credits with co-benefits. This enables companies to make a measurable and regional contribution to climate protection as part of their corporate sustainability strategy.
How are the funds from carbon credits used? The funds generated from the sale of carbon credits are reinvested into environmental conservation projects. These funds are earmarked for maintaining and enhancing forest ecosystems, improving environmental sustainability and increasing the carbon storage potential of the local forests. Tree.ly ensures transparency and accountability in how funds are allocated with concrete measurement and investment plans for each project.
How does Tree.ly ensure positive climate impact? Tree.ly ensures a positive climate impact by adhering to rigorous standards for carbon credit verification. Our projects are built on ISO 14064-2:2019 certified standard for the development of climate protection projects in European temperate forests. The SILVACONSULT® Forest Carbon Standard works with conservative baselines and ensures project additionality, permanence and avoids leakage, read more here. The projects are audited by TÜV NORD and TÜV Austria to ensure the actual reduction of carbon emissions. Forest owners are held accountable through openly available investment plans that are monitored and recertified yearly.
