From our perspective, the most significant progress in the voluntary carbon market is the increasing transparency of projects. More and more project developers are offering deeper insights, which enhances traceability and builds trust. This has significantly reduced communication issues and uncertainties regarding project quality.
However, there is still a need for improvement in the availability of high-quality, reputable projects. It’s crucial that companies have access to reliable and effective initiatives to credibly offset their emissions.
What challenges do companies face on their journey to sustainable strategies, and what is the most important recommendation you can give them?
The greatest challenge we see for companies on their path to sustainable strategies is building a robust sustainability framework. Legal requirements are often viewed as burdens, and the development of sustainability strategies is frequently outsourced. Our recommendation is clear: sustainability should be firmly embedded within the company, with internally developed expertise. Sustainability is much more than a 'green obligation'—it offers tremendous potential for future savings and long-term economic success. Investing in a sustainable future pays off.
